Zoology (Review)

       
Zoology is a movie written and directed by Ivan Tverdovsky.The film was produced by Natalia M okritskaya, Mila Rozanova, Uliana Savelieva.
Cinematography was done by Alexander Mikeladze. The cast includes Natalia Pavlenkova, Dmitri Groshev, Irina Chipizhenko, Maria Tokareva. The central character in this movie is Natasha. Natasha is a lonely middle aged women. She is living with her mother in their home.Her mother is a strong believer of god and she is god fearing. Natasha always loved animals. Natasha is working in a zoo. She was ignored by her collegues , they usually take pleasure in making fun of her.Natasha lives her solitary existance in withdrawn defeat. Something unexpected turns her life upside down. One day Natashsa discovers that she has grown a tail.

Natasha was forced to face the new reality. Natasha frequently goes to hospital for check up. She makes friendship with a male nurse in the hospital.Both of them fall in love. Natasha begins exploring the world around her with a determination unlike any she had before. People around her believes that she is an omen. The movie focus on humanity that inhabits non- normative bodies. Natasha's mother also came to know that Natasha has a tail. At last Natasha decides to cut her tail. It is the climax scene of the movie. The film was nominated for festivals such as Karlovy Vary IFF, Zurich FF, Les Arcs IFF, Cottbus FF. Zoology had won special jury prize at Karlovy Film Festival.
