Good Bye First Love (Review)

Good bye First Love is a 2011 French movie written and directed by Mia Hansen Love.The film starring Lola Creton and Sebastian Fontaine in leading roles.The film had nominated for  Locarno IFF- Special  Mention, Sarasota FF.As the title indicates love is the central theam of the movie.


Camille and Sullivan are the central characters in the movie.15 year old Camille and 19 year old Sullivan falls in love.They are passionately in love.Sullivan wants to go to South America for a year.This makes Camille into sadness and depression.At the end of summer Sullivan leaves to South America .Sullivan starts writting letters to Camille.After a few months he stops writing to Camille.Camille attempts suicide to escape from her depression and sadness.After few years Camille had concentrated on architectural studies and gets to know a famous architect, Lorenz,who restores her self confidence.Both of them fall in love.

                                                                 Camille and Lorenz are well established as a couple.Camille is now the assistant of Lorenz.Camille wants to start her own practice.She comes across Sullivan again.Despite an initially cool first encounter their love affair starts over.
She has never stopped loving him.She always remembers Sullivan.Charting a relationship over ten years, Good bye First Love follows Camille as she moves from the ecstasy of youthful passion ,through heart break of maturity and finding her place in the world.Camille’s heart is now caught between two loves.Cinematography by Stephane Fontaine is a remarkable peculiarity of this movie.
